Move over Madonna. Pack up your boombox and your cassette tapes. It’s time to moonwalk to the Temple College campus for a retro 1980s version of “The Magic Flute,” a timeless opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Temple College’s Music Department will present “The Magic Flute” Nov. 18-19 at the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center on the Temple College campus.
This production of Mozart’s famous work is a large-scale collaboration featuring vocalists from Temple College and Texas A&M University – Central Texas, Temple College Orchestra and Temple College Chorale.
“Our students, faculty and community members have worked extremely hard throughout the semester to bring this classic production to life,” said Teri Johnson, professor of voice and opera director. “We’ve had fun combining Mozart’s classic with themes from the 1980s, and we believe our audiences will have a great time sharing in the production.”
Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free for students with a school ID and $10 for adults. The opera will be performed in English.
