Temple College’s Division of Fine Arts and the Department of Speech, Humanities, Drama and Dance announce the upcoming performance of All in the Timing, which runs Nov. 4-5. Shows will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre on the Temple College Campus.

All in the Timing is a hilarious collection of six short plays by David Ives that are filled with quirky ideas and witty word play.

  

After several years of producing musicals, All in the Timing is the first non-musical to be offered at Temple College in many years. Dr. Derek Mudd, director of the production and Chair of the Department of Speech, Humanities, Drama and Dance, chose the play to develop the comedic skills of students in Temple College’s theatre and musical theatre degree programs. The fast-paced series of comedic scenes poses a unique challenge for young actors.

“The scenes are like Saturday Night Live sketches, but instead of being about current events, they are about things like falling in love, mathematical theorems and twists on the lives of historical figures,” Mudd said. “The language is a bit more complex than an SNL skit, but that is part of the fun.”

The New York Times wrote of the show’s described the show’s original production in New York as a “hilarious, celestially conceived revue. The writing is not only very funny, it has density of thought and precision of poetry.”

The cast of the production are musical theatre and theatre majors taking the Acting I class at Temple College, and includes Cameron Caple (Killeen), Madeline Clark (Belton), Danielle Cleveland (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Andrew Cloe (Troy), Talon Hayes (Troy), Layla Janicek (Belton), Alexia Kimball (Temple), Noah Marshall (McGregor), DeLisa McClennon (Temple), Caitlin Ray (Killeen) and Caleb Rinehart (Bruceville-Eddy). The show is directed by Dr. Mudd and stage managed by Hayley Cavazos, with technical direction by Michael Morris.

All in the Timing runs Friday, Nov. 4, and Saturday, Nov. 5. The box office opens at 6:30 p.m. and the production begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Jackson-Graeter Backstage Theatre of the Mary Alice Marshall Performing Arts Center on the Temple College campus.

Admission is free for students and $5 for faculty and the general public. Tickets are available at the door or can be reserved by contacting the Division of Fine Arts at 254-298-8555.

All admission fees support scholarships for theatre majors.
