Tracey Cooper has been named Executive Director of Nursing at Temple College. In this role, she will be responsible for all nursing program operations at Temple College including Associate Degree Nursing, Vocational Nursing (Temple and Taylor cohorts) and the LVN-RN Bridging program.
“The primary goal of this position is to create consistency and continuity in instruction, processes and expectations as students progress through the nursing programs,” said Dr. Shelley M. Pearson, associate vice president for health professions. “This will be a critical component to maintaining quality learning experiences and successful outcomes while we plan for growth to meet community needs.”
Cooper received her BSN from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and her MSN from Texas A&M University−Canyon. She is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and has more than 27 years of experience in nursing and/or nursing education, including 17 years in a community college setting.
Cooper was hired as an adjunct instructor in the Temple College Associate Degree Nursing program in 2014 and was named director of the program in 2015. During her tenure as director of the ADN program, Cooper oversaw a major curriculum revision, a successful accreditation site visit and a 13 percent increase in the number of students who pass their national board exams the first time.
“We are confident in Tracey’s ability to lead and organize the nursing programs in a way that reflects our continued commitment to our learners and faculty,” Pearson said.
